Prescott National Forest's Goldwater Lake Trail - 5.25M, 600'AG, 3?Hrs

Its getting hot in here, so lets escape up north, 5K' higher where temps are 20d cooler..to Prescott National Forest’s magnificent Goldwater Lake, where we enjoy strolling almost entirely in the trees.

From the Phoenix area, take I-17 to the jct of Hwy-69. Turn left onto HWY-69 toward Prescott. At the intersection of HWY-89/69, turn left (HWY-69) and head towards the town of Prescott on Gurley St. Turn left on Mount Vernon Ave which eventually becomes the Senator Highway. Take this road 4 miles to the large parking area on your left- 'Watershed trail' will meet there at 7a and start hiking at 715.

After the hike, if interested...we might stop @ Panera's for a bit
