Phoenix Outdoors Club (20s, 30s & 40s)
Phoenix is one of the few big cities where you can be on a mountain trail 15 minutes after leaving your house, and on a lake or river not long after that. Desert peaks, saguaro forests, and sunrise summits are all right here in the Valley, and this group exists to get you out there with good people.
We're a social outdoors club for ages 18-45. Whether you just moved here, work from home and need to get out of the house, or have lived here for years and still haven't done Camelback or floated the Salt River, you're welcome. Come solo, since most people do.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Several events a month, mostly weekend mornings and weeknight evenings
- Hikes at Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, South Mountain, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Papago Park, and the Superstition Mountains
- Water days: paddleboarding and kayaking at Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, and Tempe Town Lake, plus Salt River floats in summer
- Group runs at a social pace, on both pavement and trail
- Topgolf and driving range nights, no golf experience required
- Sunrise starts in the hot months, and day trips north to Sedona and Flagstaff when the Valley heats up
- Optional food or drinks afterward, because the hang is half the point
NEW TO ANY OF THIS?
Every event lists the difficulty and what to expect. Start with anything marked "Beginner Friendly." Hikes and runs marked that way are no-one-left-behind, and someone always stays at the back of the group. You don't need to own clubs, a paddleboard, or fancy gear to join in.
WHAT TO BRING
- More water than you think you need (at least 2-3 liters for hikes, more in summer)
- Shoes that fit the activity: real grip for trails, running shoes for runs
- Sun protection and a snack
- A charged phone
- Anything extra listed on the event page, like a swimsuit, towel, or rental fee
HOUSE RULES
- Only RSVP if you're coming, and update it if plans change
- Show up on time, because we start 10 minutes after the posted time
- Leave no trace: pack out everything you bring
- Be friendly and introduce yourself to someone new at every event
- This is a social club, not a dating app or a sales pitch
