THE INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS WORKSHOP:
Overcoming and Managing Unwanted and Anxiety Provoking Thinking

ALL NEW FOR FALL 2025

Intrusive thoughts are unwanted, often disturbing thoughts, images, or urges that enter the mind unexpectedly and feel difficult to control. While a common experience for many people, intrusive thoughts can become problematic if they lead to significant distress, anxiety, or compulsive behaviors, and can be a symptom of mental health conditions that includes Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many group members here complain of intrusive thinking frequently and have wondered why they occur and how to stop them. We'll discuss in length the phenomenon and offer coping mechanisms on how to deal when they occur. In the two hour seminar we'll:

  • Define intrusive thoughts and distinguish them from purposeful actions or desires.
  • Understand how engaging with intrusive thoughts reinforces them.
  • Exploring the fight, flight, or freeze response and how it is triggered by intrusive thoughts
  • Discuss common types of intrusive thoughts and why their presence does not reflect a person's character or intentions
  • Learn about the brain mechanisms and fear responses that contribute to the occurrence and persistence of these thoughts.
  • Provide ways to observe thoughts without judgment and accept them as temporary mental events.
  • Suggest methods on how to cope with intrusive thoughts when they occur

Join us tonight from 6 - 8 pm EST to discuss this in depth using education strategies and exercises to overcome intrusive thinking.

YOUR ORGANIZER: Many of you know me but to those who don't, hi, I'm Kerrin and I have Complex PTSD from a childhood with a malignant narcissistic mother and an emotionally abusive relationship with a likely sociopath. I started this group in 2021 to deal with the aftereffects of that trauma and have fumbled through establishing a new community of people to surround myself with. I have suffered with intrusive thinking for the better part of my adult life and am excited to discuss this phenomenon with others who have these same issues.

You do NOT have to be an established member to attend. Educational material will be provided upon request to any attendee post-workshop.
Zoom Links will be sent the morning of the workshop to everyone's Private Messages and emails
