***Welcome to Narcissistic and Medical Trauma Recovery group. This group is a safe space to share any and all health-related experiences. Whether you have a preexisting mental or physical condition, or suffer from health related manifestations of CPTSD- your lived experience is real and will be heard.
All diagnosis statuses are valid, including un- or under-diagnosed symptoms, and self-diagnosed disease processes. We acknowledge that receiving [an] adequate medical diagnosis[es] is a privilege many are unable to achieve.

Gaslighting and manipulation can be even more detrimental when involving your health. Managing a "complex" bodymind, with any issue, can make you feel alone and isolated. Here, we encourage you to share your health journey with validation to heal. ***

Tips on how to feel more comfortable during a share:

*Remember that there is no right or wrong way to show up to this meeting- your authentic self is enough. It is okay if you have nothing to share and just want to listen this time. We will meet you where you are on your journey, at that time. We will gently hold space for everyone in this group.

We care deeply about creating warm, inclusive spaces to grow and heal. This includes, but is not limited to, welcoming all: people with chronic illness, disability/ies, neurodivergence, the LGBTQIA+ population, and people of all cultures, races and backgrounds. Please come as you are :)

Rules and Guidelines:
*You must have attended a first timer's meeting and be an established member of SONA to participate in this group.

Please note- I am not a licensed therapist, lawyer or doctor of any kind. I will and can not give any legal or medical advice

I do have a professional health care background and have personal experience with advocating for myself through disability benefits, insurance providers, and health care systems in the US*. I have no international experience. I will give solicited opinions [when asked for directly]. I will help brainstorm for options for you when you're "stuck", among the group. However, any and all advice provided in this group [by myself and/or any other member] is only an opinion, based solely on personal experience, and will never be meant to be taken as guidance.*

*Please do NOT give unsolicited advice to other members unless directly asked. Please feel free to state that you are seeking advice (or not) with your share. Please confirm that advice is wanted, and receive permission, before providing advice it to another member. For many of us, receiving unsolicited advice is another form of trauma, so this topic will be taken very seriously in this group.

*Do not private message members directly, at any time. To ensure everyone’s safety and privacy, please ask an organizer to contact a fellow member. This policy stands even when consent is perceived.

Please click the "raise hand" button on zoom when you have a share. Please keep your mic muted until it is your time to share. *
If you are distracting other members by speaking out of turn, the host will ask once for you to mute yourself (or will mute you themselves.) However, if you continue to talk out of turn, the host will take further measures in an attempt to minimize disruptions for people sharing. Reactions and discussion in the chat are encouraged, but verbally interrupting is not. Please be respectful.
Please message the general meeting chat or the host directly with any tech issues.

*Due to this meeting being only 1.5 hours- please keep shares brief and respectful, to ensure everyone gets a chance to speak. I will offer to stay later to "wrap up" if and when my energy allows, but this is not a guarantee- please plan on the meeting ending on time, every time. Please know there may be meetings where we unfortunately will not be able to get to everyone who wants to share.

**Hateful or ignorant statements will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave. This includes, but is not limited to: "toxic positivity", questioning other's lived experiences, and/or ableist, homophobic, or transphobic speech. Just, be respectful.

*Cameras must be on to enter the meeting and for the duration. Once we are in the room: if you need to take a break, that is fine, feel free to point your camera away, but please keep it on whenever possible. This is a safety measure for all.

Meetings are not to be recorded by members. Please message the host and/or Kay directly if any measures are needed in a meeting for a disability accommodation. We want to include you, please let us know the best way.

*To keep this a safe and supportive space for everyone, we ask that you be considerate of others before sharing deeply traumatic history, including suicidal thoughts or actions.
Please provide a trigger warning before sharing, if you feel it may be an upsetting share.
Please feel free to take a break and step back for yourself, if the topics ever feel too heavy.

If you’re ever in crisis, we encourage you to reach out to a mental health professional or crisis line for more in-depth support.
