What we’re about

‘Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished’ - Lao Tzu.
Once or twice a week, a few of us are getting together early morning for a comfortable 3 to 5 smooth 'n scenic miles hike, mostly in Cave Creek, Lake Pleasant or McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Please note that the 'Slowing Hikers' name is not a reference to being out of shape, but rather a preference for taking it slower.

We'll be hiking at a leisurely, laid-back, relaxed pace and we will stop often. If all this sounds like your ideal hiking style then you're welcome to join.

From the i-17 (N Phoenix) take AZ-74 exit (Carefree Hwy) and head east 7 miles. Turn left onto 32nd St (Regional park sign on your right). go 2 miles to the park entrance and pay your 7 bucks fee. continue a mile nearly
to to the end of the road and turn left onto Tonalite Dr. ('Hiking Trails' sign on your right.). Continue to Go John's large paved parking lot on your left. (rest rooms/Water). Will meetup at 610 and start rolling at 615a sharp.

At the top....it’s striking 360-degree views of the lake, the surrounding mountains, and a wonderful experience along the way🫏🫏🫏. It is simply spectacular!!
We'll meet at the Pipeline Canyon parking lot (restrooms 'n water fountain)) at 610a and start strolling at 615 sharp. If you late a few minutes, not to worry as we'll be walking at (always) a relaxed pace and you can easily catch up.

From I-17 in N Phoenix, exit AZ 74 Carefree Hwy and go west 11 miles. Turn right onto Castle Hot Springs Rd. Go north 6 miles to the end of the rd and turn right. Drive through the gate, pay the 7 bucks fee and continue to turn right onto Cottonwood Rd and in a 1/4 a mile, you'll be at the Pipeline's parking lot.
