Mycology 101: How to Grow Your Own

Details
Come out and join us on Sunday Oct. 28 at 7:00 for a demonstration and conversation on how to cultivate your own mushrooms. One of our members has been kind enough to agree to lead this evening's demonstration and will share his process for turning, as the late Terence McKenna used to say, "rye into mold, and mold into gold." Figuratively speaking, of course! While this technique can be implemented successfully with any number of mushroom species, this particular demo will involve the species "pleurotus ostereatus" (otherwise know as the oyster mushroom) as our presenter will lead us through the tricky yet ultimately incredibly satisfying steps of sterilization, innoculation, and cultivation, with hands on examples at each step. Have you grown before? Success or failure--bring your knowledge and questions to this get together and share what you know. See you there!
"Growing the mushroom teaches you all kinds of traits you will need when you take it. Patience, diligence, cleanliness... a kind of discerning intelligence."
--Terence McKenna
