Join us for a classic Sedona adventure hike through the beautiful red rocks of Soldiers Pass. This trail features several of Sedona’s most famous natural landmarks, including Devil’s Kitchen, the Seven Sacred Pools, and the dramatic Soldiers Pass.

We will meet at Albertson's in North Phoenix to grab supplies and organize carpools.

Timeliness will be necessary. Soldiers Pass is one of Sedona’s most popular hikes, and parking / access will become extremely difficult.

Difficulty: Moderate or 5 out of 10
Distance: Approximately 4.5 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: Approximately 600 feet
Terrain: Rocky and uneven sections, some slickrock, and moderate inclines

The hike begins with Devil’s Kitchen, a dramatic sinkhole formed when the sandstone collapsed. From there, we continue toward the Seven Sacred Pools, a series of naturally formed pools carved into the red rock.

The trail then continues toward Soldiers Pass, a beautiful natural passageway surrounded by towering red rock formations. The scenery throughout the hike is excellent, with plenty of opportunities for photos and exploring along the way.

Fun fact: Soldiers Pass gets its name from an old route used by soldiers traveling through the area. It is also one of the most popular and well known hikes in Sedona, thanks to its combination of unique landmarks, beautiful red rock scenery, and easy access to several surrounding trails.

Hat/sunglasses

Post-Hike Plans
After the hike, a few of us will likely grab a bite to eat in Uptown Sedona before heading home.

Notes
As mentioned earlier, Sedona is typically very busy, and Soldiers Pass is one of the area's most popular trailheads.

Please make every effort to arrive on time at 6:30am so we can organize carpools and get everyone to Sedona together. Trailhead parking will be limited so the idea is to get there early.

This hike is best suited for hikers comfortable with uneven and rocky terrain. No significant technical scrambling is expected.

Dogs are not recommended due to crowds, terrain, and the overall length of the hike.
