Announcing a new Meetup for The South Bay Photography Meetup Group!

What: Annual WEST side pinnacles trip

When: Sunday, February 28,[masked]:00 PM

Pinnacles National Monument
5000 Hwy. 146
Paicines, CA 95043

This is the annual trip to the Pinnacles ! For those of you who have been, you know that it is a great trip.
Last year everyone had fear of the rain (it was pouring cats and dogs in San Jose), but it was mixed clouds and light sprinkles at the Pinnacle. Every year the weather has cooperated by being cloudy (makes for great pics). Weather does NOT cancel the trip. We have had a variety of weather over the years on each trip ranging from sun to minor snow flurries.

This is to the WEST ! side of the Pinnacles (Soledad). Every year someone goes to the East side (Holister).
The west side is out of Soledad!. Do not follow the signs to Hollister and the Pinnacles. (Ignore the address of 5000 Hwy 146... Your GPS will take you to the East side)

This is an all day event it ususally takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each way for travel time. There are a variety of trails from short and easy to a 6 mile round trip to the high peaks and to see the condors.

Bring a lunch and water, sun screen, coat, dark glasses, boots.

There are typically wild flowers, spectacular rocks, a couple of small creeks and maybe condors. It is a great time of year to be there, not hot, lush greens, oranges and pinks. Lots of opportunities for different types of photos.

take Hwy 101 south to Soledad (roughly 80 miles from San Jose)
follow signs to town of Soledad,
Follow signs for hwy 146 (follow the road until it ends at the park)
There is a parking fee, probably about $8

I strongly suggest carpooling, it makes for a nicer trip.

Contact me if you have questions.
