In September, we will be discussing the work of Duane Michals and his impact on both the photography and the art world.

Your assignment, is to study the photograph "There are things here not seen in this photograph" and create your own work. Then post them in the album below.

You can create them in his style of writing on the print or you can submit two pieces for each assignment. One the photo and one the writing.

We've had this discussion many times, how what we see when we look at a photograph is colored by what we experienced. And often, what we experienced isn't present enough for the viewer to feel what we feel. This is why in art galleries there are often not just titles, but artist statements so we can experience the art the way the artist intended.

Still, each piece must be able to stand on its own.

Duane's work is easily accessible on-line. If you collect photography books I suggest "The Essential Duane Michals".

Limit your submissions to 1 - 5 photographs.

Submissions to the album have a 15MB limit. Do not submit tiny thumbnails. If they are not large enough, they are not readable in the video gallery I create for each Meetup.

Questions? Just ask!
