Let’s take to the streets for some environmental portraits! We’ll look for textures in the environment to play with - walls, railings, interesting architecture, anything with leading lines, as well as any elements that convey a general “downtown” vibe. This is really our chance to play and get creative with no rules! Bonus points for anyone who is able to get a random stranger to pose!
Photographers: Medium to wide-angle lenses are best for capturing a lot of the environment. We’ll be hoofing it around so carrying a lot of gear will be a pain. If you have a 35mm prime or a zoom that covers the wider end of the range (like a 24-70) that would probably be perfect to be your one lens for the day. I personally will have my flash on my camera in case any situations arise that need a little extra light.
Models: Wear whatever you like! This is your chance to play too so if you have a specific look you’ve been wanting to wear, anything really goes for this one! Anything edgy or “fashiony” (is that a word?) would play really well!
We’ll meet and park at the public garage/lot behind Thornes Marketplace. There is a meter-type system with small fees to park. From there we will journey up to Main Street and around the neighborhood in general looking for cool areas that catch our eye. I’ll do a pre-walk and try to scope out a couple of spots for us but really this one is about being creative on the spot and getting inspired by whatever you see around you. Hope to see you all there!
