Photograph butterflies!

Come and get some stellar butterfly images. In the morning the butterflies are slower and hence easier to photograph. There are also flowers and other animals there to photograph (little birds, walking sticks, sometimes even Red-eyed Green Tree Frogs and Gray Tree frogs!).

We will have the Butterflies all to ourselves from 8-10am (admission is included and you can stay past 10am (without tripods, bags, etc.) on your own if you want.

At 7:15am Tom & Lisa will discuss settings to get sharper images: shutter speed, ISO, aperture, using burst mode, focus limiter, focus peaking, etc.
Tom takes the lead in the field for our photo events, so he is also around to answer your (relevant) questions.

We will also have two sets of flash units available for loan (with universal pocket wizards) for people to try some off-camera flash. You do not need your own flash, one will be provided. People will be placed in pairs to work on off-camera flash lighting together.

We will have the Butterflies all to ourselves from 8-10am (admission is included and you can stay later on your own if you want).

Meet in the parking lot to talk about apertures, shutter speed, flash, etc.

At 10am the public is allowed in, so bags and tripods and such must be put away, but you may stay longer if you want (or join us for breakfast down the road)

Things to Bring: camera, lenses, extra batteries, and memory cards.
Lens Suggestions: Closeup Lens (like a 60/90/100/105mm Macro lens) and a Medium telephoto (like a 70-200mm, 75-300, etc.,)

Things to Bring: OPTIONAL You MAY use a tripod or monopod or leave an unattended camera bag until 10am. You do NOT need to use a tripod or monopod. If you are well versed with your own flash bring it, or a portable LED light, but if not Tom will set you up with one of our flashes to try out.

Location is ~150 miles from the Tappan Zee/Mario Cuomo bridge (or 89 miles from Hamden CT). Transportation, Lodging, and meals are not included.

COVID. Tom and I are both fully vaccinated. Here is what you need to know and comply with:
• Anyone who is sick with COVID-like symptoms must not attend.
• Anyone who has a fever over 100 degrees must not attend. Please check your temperature BEFORE you leave home.
• If you signed up for a workshop and have a positive COVID test please contact us ASAP.
• Anyone who has knowingly come in contact with a COVID positive person within the past week must not attend.

• Unvaccinated and/or unboosted people should wear a mask indoors (or when very close to another for camera menu settings)
