What we're about

This group was originally started a couple of years ago by me to help parents learn about photography, and give parents a chance to take amazing pictures of their children with other parents. To learn from a professional photographer as well as each other.

We will attempt to meet at least monthly with various topics that could be something like:

Taking photos on the beach
Taking photos at the amusement park
Taking photos at the playground
Taking Christmas card photos
Taking Event (birthday, communion, mitzvah, etc...) Photos
Taking formal portraits

For the most part, your children will be welcome, and encouraged to come to the meet-ups, after all, that is what this is all about. However I do think getting together without the kids once in a while isn't a bad idea also. For example, for a photography 101 course where you can focus on learning the technical aspects of photography without the kids. Or maybe with the kids but having child care for portions of the meet-up.

Last year the groups focus began to change toward freelancers as Adrienne, one of the members, stepped in to help the group. Eventually it was realized that the group needed to split because trying to please both freelancers and parents just wanting to take better photos of their kids wasn't working. That group is now photography 4 freelancers and is located but clicking here. (http://www.meetup.com/PhotographyForFreelancePhotographers)

So I started this new group in an effort to bring back the original intent. I thank Adrienne for stepping in to help the group when I couldn't so we will still work closely with her as each of us will still be part of the other group.

Confused???

Here how I think about the breakdown...

Freelancer or advanced photographer - Join photography 4 freelancers group (http://www.meetup.com/PhotographyForFreelancePhotographers).
Parents wanting to learn and take great photos of their kids - Join Photography for Parents.
Parents who want to take great photos, but also want more advanced techniques, Join BOTH
Freelancers who are also parents and want to take photos of their own kids, helping others, and learning, Join BOTH.

Suggestions are always welcome and as soon as we have enough members interested, we will schedule our first event.

Thank you and peace to you and your family.

Sincerely,

John Vercelletto
