One week of total photography heaven in an amazingly diverse & phenomenal landscapes I have had the pleasure to visit, thats why I'm going back! La Palma, the greenest of the Canary Islands, currently offering the chance to experience real unspoiled nature. Verdant forests in the North where lush vegetation drips from the rainforest canopy, to the desert landscapes of the south, where volcanic craters and twisted rock formations define the views, to the serene pine forests of the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. No wonder the entire island has been declared a Unesco biosphere reserve. This trip will be a leisurely, relaxed & fun trip with "no time restrictions" where ever we are, unless ticket machine for parking dictates. We will fully immerse ourselves in our surroundings, taking time to make fantastic images, that is the mantra for the trip! I have decide it's best to locate our base on the East side of the island so that getting onto our sunrise location is more "time efficient" then we can return to base for coffee & breakfast (or eat out) before taking off for the rest of the day. The list of places to visit is extensive but will remain flexible as weather light etc will play a part on where we go & when, so the itinary isn't cast in stone. Beaches will play a big part in the trip, especially at sunrise. The North & its waterfall & rainforest environment & the natural sea pools on the rugged but beautiful coastline. The National Park to the centre of the island is a must do, this maybe restricted due to the amount of walking some people "won't want to or can't do", some areas are accessible by car so we may stick to them, group to discuss. The south of the island will be visited a few times to do the Salt Pans & lighthouses, the lovely beaches around this part, the Volcano that created the volcanic wilderness, so plenty to do. Towns with unspoilt Canarian charm & so clean you notice it, Los Lanos (maybe take in the small Sunday market) & for sure the main town of Santa Cruz are must do's. The volcanic area in the centre of the island up to the Pine forests you could spend days in alone so we will spend some good time here as walking this area is much easier & we can park easily in the heart of it all.
