A new beginning! Deep dive into Postman & The stages of learning to deploy code
Details
Welcome everyone to the very first PHP South Africa meetup! Still all digital for the time being but hopefully coming back IRL soon.
There are some slight format changes to the meetup. Namely, the chat is being moved to the zatech.co.za #php channel, so join us there as well! As usual, the meetup will be streamed to YouTube.
As always there'll be one Jetbrains license to raffle away to meetup participants.
Our first talk is a deep dive into Postman with Grant McMullin:
"Many of us who have built or worked with RESTful APIs would have found a testing application. For many of us this is Postman.
Postman is an incredible program that allows for the utilisation of RESTful APIs as a client, but it allows for generating documentation, setting up monitoring and automated testing.
Building APIs for external consumption requires bulletproof service, and with Postman, you can ensure that is what you're delivering."
Our second talk for the evening will be from Tim Haak, on "The different stages to learning to deploy code":
"Have you been wondering how to deploy your code to the internet yourself without having to pay for things like Laravel Forge?
Well, then this talk is for you.
I’ll be covering different stages of learning how to deploy your code.
Starting how to start simply not knowing anything.
Progressing through automating the initial steps.
Finally covering how to deploy to a Kubernetes cluster.
I’ll cover the Pros and Cons of the different stages, and hopefully, covering the path you’ll need to go from not knowing anything to eventually mastering deployment.
The talk will be more high level but a git repository with code for each step will be given during the talk."
