This month we welcome returning speaker Steve McDougall a.k.a. JustSteveKing a.k.a. The API Guy, for a new talk about implementing the outbox pattern in Laravel (see details further down).

Before Steve takes the stage from his home in beautiful Wales, Andy Broomfield and our very own Joby Harding will give two lightning talks about Drupal’s latest updates and PHPStorm’s new ‘Junie’ AI integration.

This event will be hybrid, meaning you can either join in person or online:

The in-person event will take place at Runway East in Brighton from 6:30 pm (talk at 7 pm). There will be food and drinks courtesy of Runway East and Tillo – come have a chat before the talk!

What's New in Drupal

To kickstart the evening, Andy Broomfield will give us a quick tour of what’s new in Drupal, including the Drupal CMS launched in January to easily get started with Drupal, Recipes for quick feature installation, Single Directory Components for rapid theming using atomic design principles, and AI tools and agents for content editors and site builders.

Andy is a Website Technical Lead at the Brighton & Hove City Council.

June Junie: 4 weeks with PHPStorm's new coding AI

Junie is an overhaul of Jetbrains’ AI offering for the vibe-coding generation, released in mid April. Joby decided to jump in with both feet for 4 weeks and will share his experiences using Junie in PHPStorm to do “real work”, as well as thoughts and musings on the future of coding and the coming singularity.

Joby is an Independent Developer at Full Stack App Co. and, of course, co-organiser of PHP Sussex.
