Level Up

In June we're hosting a night of talks focussed around how to level up your skills as a developer.

Thanks to BaseKit for kindly hosting us this month.

Our talks this month:

• A Junior's Guide To Getting Sh*t Done
Lucia Velasco (https://www.meetup.com/php-sw/members/201903363/), developer at Rocketmakers (http://www.rocketmakers.com/)

This talk covers steps for successfully trying out and implementing new things on an existing system. It will include practical measures you should take to avoid such traps as "Now what?", the Golden Hammer and biting off more than you can chew - whether you're thinking of trying out React, Scrum or Slack.

• Becoming PHP Certified
Mike Oram (https://twitter.com/MPOram), lead trainer at Mayden Academy (https://maydenacademy.co.uk/)

This talk will help those of you thinking about becoming Zend certified - what it is, why you should do it, how to get it and some tips for taking the exam.

BaseKit (http://www.basekit.com/) have kindly offered to host the evening at their office, and as always we'll sort out some ales, lagers, soft drinks and snacks. Don't forget to check them out - and if you're looking, they are hiring.

As always, a big thanks to our meetup sponsors Ents24 (http://www.ents24.com/), Brightpearl (http://www.brightpearl.com/), Meanbee (https://www.meanbee.com/) & Deep Blue Sky (http://deepbluesky.com/) without whom we wouldn't be able to put on our meetups.

Afterwards we'll head to the pub, probably the Volunteer Tavern (http://volunteertavern.co.uk/real-ales)!
