Building quality code

Details

We're back in April and we have a star in the PHP speaking world...

James Titcumb will show us how to build a CI/CD pipeline to help us maintain and increase software quality over time.

There are also spaces for lighting talks (anything up to 20mins. If you're keen to do one then drop us a line).

Minimum Viable PHPipeline

The honeymoon period is over, and your company or customer is demanding stability in your PHP applications.

I'm going to talk about some essential strategies to set up Continuous Integration and Delivery pipelines to help maintain, and - over time - improve the quality of the software your team delivers.

You'll learn about some of the tools necessary to set these pipelines up, basic design of CI pipelines, and some key strategies for automating deployments. I'll show you how having a solid CI/CD pipeline means that you can still deliver software fast, but with confidence that your deliverables are steadily getting better.

Your first time coming to PHPSW? Welcome!

Here's how the evening tends to run:

  • Feel free to turn up from 6:30pm.
  • We'll have a selection of soft drinks & alcoholic drinks available from about 6:45pm, all free of charge thanks to our sponsors. It's a great chance to speak to people (we're a friendly bunch!) and do a bit of networking. Just speak to an organiser if you'd like an introduction to people, or just dive in and say "hello!".
  • At 7pm, we'll do a quick welcome talk and some community announcements
  • At ~7:10pm we'll start our talks
  • We finish at ~8:30pm. We always go for a drink somewhere afterwards to discuss the talks and anything else that takes your fancy.
