This is a story of an old project, an open source project from PHP's early days, a project with more than 200.000 dependents, a project which was dying a slow death and was about to be abandoned...

This is a story which is currently unfolding and for which the outcome is not yet known at the time I'm writing this abstract.
This is (hopefully) a story about reviving a project, making it more maintainable and giving it a new, healthy future, but it may also be a story about the death of one of the PHP's all-time greats...
