Whales in every cloud
Kubernetes for sticking Laravel basically anywhere
Phil Weir (https://twitter.com/phil_t_weir) will give us an introduction to what Kubernetes is, why it is, and how it magically makes it possible to fire a PHP app, and all associated services, onto your choice of cloud from the comfort of your laptop. This is a story of how and why I moved to Docker-based Laravel, and then to using Kubernetes. Version your infrastructure, allow for scalability of individual components and retain host independence.
Serve the web like it's 2016
Andy Graham (https://about.me/andygraham) from 31Interactive (http://www.31interactive.com) gives us a 15min demonstration of Caddy, the HTTP/2 web server with automatic HTTPS.
Out of the box, caddy supports HTTP/2, IPv6, Markdown, WebSockets, FastCGI, templates and more.
Lightning Talks Also Accepted
This is your opportunity to step up and gain some recognition. Talk about anything PHP or Web Development related, a library you found, a component you started using how you used ReactJS to talk to your PHP Backend, what new commandline foo have you discovered. It doesn't matter what it is.
It doesn't matter if you can talk for 5 mins or 50 mins.
Please ping @PHPBelfast (https://twitter.com/phpbelfast) on twitter if you'd like to give a short talk. Without speakers - there is no meetup.
NOTE
PHPBelfast this month will be in a different room than previously, its now in room BA-02-012 so if you walk past the previous room, take first right, its on your left.
We'll signpost as best we can.
Open Floor
Come prepared with your own 5-15min talk and have your say on any topic related to web development. maybe you discovered a new library on Packagist you think we should all know about. Maybe you want to have your 2 cents worth on the 11 lines of code that brought down NPM - whatever it is, if you have the slides, you can have the floor.
To keep transitions between speakers simple, please bring your presentation on a USB stick in either PDF, Keynote, HTML or, if you really must, Powerpoint and a laptop will be available on the night.
Networking Opportunities
As usual there will be opportunity to catchup and discuss any and all things after the talks are finished, The Duke of York is the usual venue for that.
