Talk 1: Collect the dots

If you stand back far enough, everything is a list.
We store lists of items in database tables
The items in a list often reference of other items such as tags, categories, properties etc in nested lists.

Arrays are the de-facto mechanism for working with lists of all types. But arrays, while flexible also have some drawbacks... so lets look at a better way.

Tim Swann, Lead Dev at Simply Zesty will talk us through the benefits of creating PHP Collection Classes to manage your lists.

This talk is framework agnostic and covers the principles behind collection classes so suitable for developers of all levels and experience.

Talk 2: Learn from other Languages
Stephen McCullough from Shopkeep will discuss what PHP developers and PHP as a language can learn from other languages.

Programming is a learned skill, and developers can learn to use and adapt techniques and patterns from other developers to better themselves and their applications.

In this talk Stephen will discuss some common programming pitfalls and show how they have been mitigated against in other languages
