Virtual Meetup December 2021

Dang! It is already December!!! I don’t know about you, but for me 2021 went by in an instant. I want to take the opportunity to wish you and your loved ones good health and prosperity for the new year that is coming.

We missed last month’s meetup because of very busy schedules for everyone on the team, for which I am sorry. My team at In2it were also not able to ship the community care packages of previous editions, but with this year’s ending we do have time available to ship them as our Community Season’s Greetings Package… so your patience will be rewarded.

For this December edition we have Freek talking about concurrency in PHP and myself about unknown features in API management. So I think we can close this year with a 💥

Of course we will have our monthly raffle and a cosy chit-chat session afterwards.

🗣 Freek Van der Herten - Implementing lightweight concurrency in PHP
We’ll kick things off by looking at some existing options to run code concurrently.

After that we'll live code a hand rolled solution to execute arbitrary PHP code on multiple processes.

🗣 Michelangelo van Dam - Discover the benefits and hidden secrets of Azure API Management Service
If you work with APIs daily, you know how hard it is to keep track of changes, integrate them into existing applications or to secure them in an ever changing world. Before I discovered Azure API Management services, I was going through the same painful experience.

In this session I will briefly touch on what Azure API Management (APIM) is, to go directly in some interesting examples where APIM is a true game changer. The topics I will cover are: rate limitations, Soap to REST conversion, B2B and B2C Access Control, and API billing features for SaaS purposes. I promise it will be an interesting session with code samples you can try yourself. Looking forward to seeing you there.
