PHP London January 2013
Details
PHP London is a non-profit group to promote knowledge sharing and best practice amongst PHP developers and web development and business professionals in London. The main product right now is a regular PHP meetup, basically a monthly PHP PubCon. In order to attend all you need is an interest in PHP.
This month's meetup is generously sponsored by the Conker Group (http://conkergroup.com/) who will be providing drinks at the beginning of the evening.Fancy working in a startup under the umbrella of a long-established business? We’re looking to build a London LAMP team to complement our existing teams in Nottingham (big data) and Romsey (iOS). You’d be working on mission-critical apps for large businesses (the likes of Danone) but if that makes it sound boring, think again. We’ve got some radically new ways of handling corporate data, and in 2013 we’ll be introducing ‘social’ tools to companies that have so far barely evolved beyond Lotus Notes and IE6 :-)
Agenda:
7:00-8:00 - informal drinks, snacks and chat.
8:00-8:05 - welcome by executive committee & any group announcements
8:05-9:00 - talk(s):
Title:Lightning Talks! By:You! About: This month we will be having lightning talks. This is a fantastic opportunity both for new speakers to try giving a short talk and for experienced speakers to try out a new idea for a talk. Each talk will be 5 minutes with 2 minutes for questions. Subject material can be anything that you think will be of general interest to the community - straight product or marketing pitches are generally not well received. If you are interested in giving a 5 minute talk please email us before the meetup (contact@phplondon.org) and - if you want to use slides - please bring them on a memory stick. We'll put all the talks on one laptop to avoid time wasted during change over. Looking forward to seeing some great talks from our membership! If you are interested in giving a talk, or want to request one, please look at our talks page: http://wiki.phplondon.org/wiki/Talks
9:00 onwards - more drinks, snack and chat
