Join us at OUR NEW LOCATION for the final session of our journey through Jordan Peterson’s We Who Wrestle with God.
What happens when a civilization trades its sacred center for immediate gratification? What does Jonah, the reluctant prophet in the whale, reveal about the cowardice of silence in an age that flirts with tyranny? And what does Peterson leave out, and does it matter?

We will finish Chapters 8 and 9, along with Peterson’s Conclusion. We will look at Moses’s catastrophic failure, the ease with which a freed people slide back into infantile hedonism, and Jonah’s quiet devastation. His warning still lands: the silence of the good and the victory of evil are not far apart.
We will also wrestle with Peterson’s reading of the golden calf as more than ancient superstition. It is a timeless pattern: when transcendent purpose collapses, the vacuum does not stay empty. It fills. Often with a new tyrant.

Finally, we will take up Peterson’s reply to Nietzsche’s “God is dead,” including the three Latin words that frame his closing argument. Then we will step back and assess the whole work. Landmark interpretation, psychological masterpiece, or a brilliant commentary that still leaves the reader wanting? What does Peterson illuminate, and where does his framework strain?
Come ready to wrestle. No prior reading required. Bring curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to ask whether the map is enough for the territory.

Note: Though encouraged, chapter reading is not required for attendance and participation

GENERAL INFORMATION:

NEW LOCATION:
245 West Sagebrush Street
Join us at our new meet up location at an organizer's in South Gilbert. At the corner of West Sagebrush and West Lago Blvd in the Lago Estancia neighborhood. Avoid parking on Lago Blvd and notice the fire hydrant at the corner.

The first half hour of our meetup is for mingling, then 7:30pm-10pm consists of a formal presentation and discussion; the discussion section may divide into smaller groups if size necessitates. All are encouraged to contribute to the formal discussion, although you may decline if you wish. Afterwards, we enjoy further discussion with those who wish to stay longer and pursue pertinent topics in more depth, but people should feel free to leave whenever they want/need to.

We have a potluck for everyone to partake of throughout the evening, so bring some food to share if you wish (this could be anything from a bag of chips to a homemade dish).
Our fundamental principle is to encourage the free expression and exploration of ideas. Therefore, we will never silence controversial views that anyone may have about a topic. For the same reason, we do not tolerate direct personal attacks, which only impede genuine dialogue.

DISCORD SERVER (updated link!):
The group has a Discord server! This gives us all a space to talk about stuff between meetups. Use the following link to join, if you haven't already:
