Saguaro Survey VI: Field Verification with Mergin Maps

Details
Charge your phone, put on your hiking boots, and join us for the 6th annual Papago Park Saguaro Survey! This is the follow-up event to the March 26th virtual mapping party where we will be flagging new and fallen saguaros visible in aerial imagery.
In previous years we focused on specific sections of the park. This year we are putting it all together and updating the full park map, focusing on changes. Has the saguaro population of Papago Park withstood the environmental stressors that have affected other areas of the Valley over the last few years? We will share our collective findings at a future PHXGeo event.
We like to try out a new mobile mapping platform every year and this year we will be using Mergin Maps, the mobile extension of QGIS. Before the event, please download the Mergin Maps phone app (Apple or Android) and create a free Mergin Maps account.
We'll share more event details and get participants connected to the mapping project closer to the event.
