Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a communication framework developed by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, PhD. The NVC framework provides a set of communication tools that enable us to achieve: - A habit of responding rather than reacting - Greater levels of connection and mutual understanding - Clarity when we experience anger, resentment, fear, etc. - A state of openness, possibility
Other things we could call NVC: - needs-focused communication - collaborative communication - communication for mutual understanding
We are a group committed to learning and practicing Nonviolent Communication together. Each meetup will consist of practical exercises focused on a specific topic.
Private Residence near Curry Rd and Weber Dr. (north Tempe)
At this session, I'll give a very brief intro on NVC.
If you are new to NVC, you are welcome! I would encourage you to, before the meeting, google NVC/Marshall Rosenberg, read about the basics a bit, and be open to a new way of thinking.
If you are already familiar with NVC, you are also very welcome!
For this session, we'll go over something a group of us did a long time ago and that is the barriers to communication.
Please bring a needs and a feelings list, a pad of paper, and a writing utensil.
