This group is for anyone interested in playing volleyball in a supportive, fun, and growth-oriented environment.
We run advanced events for higher level players, and our regular events are open to all skill levels. We also offer skill sessions, where we run drills and develop fundamentals based on your skill level.
Group Expectations:
Absolutely everyone is welcome at these events. Any discrimination or harassment will not be tolerated and will result in prompt removal from the group. If you are not comfortable playing with people of all race, religion, creed, orientation, background, age, and skill level, then this group is not for you. This group is for improving your skills--as well as everyone around you--in a safe and inclusive environment, no matter what level you play at (spare advanced events). With the above in mind, players in this group are expected to be inclusive and supportive of everyone playing.
Liability:
By registering and playing in these events you acknowledge that you are playing at your own risk. Organizers, hosts, and event venues are not liable for any theft or injury sustained during events.
Community Partnership

Friday Beginner/All Levels Open Gym in SW Portland 5-7:30pm

These events are for everyone looking to play fun, high energy volleyball in a growth oriented environment. We are playing to have fun and get better.
Players who compete at or below B level should attend All Levels Events. BB+ level players are welcome, however the skill level at Advanced events may be better suited to these players. At All Level events everyone rotates around with no set positions; At Advanced events we may run 5-1 and/or 6-2 systems.
Play will run for 2.5 hours from 5pm - 7:30pm at First United Methodist Church in NW Portland. Teams will be made on the spot by numbering off, and will be changed up during the event. Note: This is a 1 net facility, so teams will play 2 rounds, sit 1, and repeat this for the duration of the event!
Team signups are welcome at these events!! Please note that if you don’t sign up a full team, others will be added to your team to reach 7 players.

Please note that this gym is not ADA accessible!
Court shoes are required for events! Street/daily shoes can leave scuffs and dirty the floors. Court shoes are any shoes dedicated to indoor use/not worn outside. If you don't have court shoes we will have to turn you away and will not be able to offer a refund!
Players are expected to be respectful of the gym as well as each other! Please clean up any trash, bring out what you brought in, and respect the equipment/space. If this becomes an issue you may be barred from events.

Friday Intermediate/Advanced Open Gym in SW Portland 7:30-10pm

These events are for experienced volleyball players. Formal training is not required, but you should be familiar with 5-1 and 6-2 systems, and be sufficient in all basic skills (passing, setting, hitting, serving, and blocking). Generally: B+ level players should attend Advanced events, and players below B Level should attend our All Levels Events.
If you are unsure if these events are right for you:
- Join an All Levels Open Gym to gauge your skill level
- Join one of our Clinics to further develop your skills

Advanced Skills Clinic!

These clinics are for experienced volleyball players! This course will assume sufficiency in the fundamentals, and will develop more advanced skills including running 5-1 and 6-2 systems, setting/hitting tempo, running routes, defensive systems, etc. Each week we will focus on a new skill.
The Clinic will run for one hour from 11:00am-12pm at Dalzell Community Gym in Damascus. There is an open gym directly afterwards, which is a great chance to practice skills!
I'm beyond excited to offer this to the community, and I hope everyone is able to grow and learn something new!!
The clinic costs $15, and proceeds will go towards gym time/group fees and buying balls/gear so we can make sure folks have what they need!

If you are unsure if these events are right for you, you should join our other events to further develop your skills before coming to advanced open gyms.
