    In this class, you will learn about the key features and functions of each type of printer in our Printer Suite. Our knowledgeable instructor will walk you through the entire process, from choosing the right type of paper or substrate, to setting up your printer for optimal performance, to troubleshooting common issues that may arise.

    Whether you are a hobbyist looking to explore new creative possibilities, a small business owner looking to expand your product offerings, or an experienced printer user seeking to refine your skills, this class has something to offer.

    Please note that this class is required before you can use the more advanced printers in our facility, including the sublimation, thermal label, large format, and photo printers. However, casual printing on the endless tank printer does not require completion of this class.

  • Woodshop Orientation & Sawstop Certification - Members Only!

    This class is meant for Pikes Peak Makerspace members ONLY.
    Previously the Wood Shop Orientation class, it is now a combination class which includes the Saw Stop Training and Certification.

    This first half of the orientation is mainly focused on the Wood Shop including:

    • Basic safety
    • Introduction to the equipment available
    • Requirements for use of the shared space
    • And cleaning responsibilities

    The orientation will transition into the Saw Stop Training and Certification in the last half designed to teach individuals how to safely and effectively operate the Saw Stop table saw.
    Certification for use on the Saw Stop consists of two parts: a quiz and an in-person demonstration.

    The class will conclude with a hands-on demonstration to showcase your ability to operate the saw safely and correctly.

    You must pass THIS QUIZ

    During the training class, you will learn:

    • Basic setup and operation of the SawStop table saw
    • Safe cutting techniques and procedures
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting

    Only individuals who have passed the quiz and hands-on demonstration will be authorized to use the saw.

    $60 for Pikes Peak Makerspace members / this class is not open to the public at this time.

    Scheduling:
    This combo class is designed for new-to-woodshop members and is offered twice per month on Saturdays mornings.
    For members who have already completed woodshop orientation and are interested in the Saw Stop only, there is a separate class once per month on Thursday evenings.

  • Boss Laser Orientation and Certification

    Class Description & Agenda:

    The BOSS Laser Orientation is designed to provide an overview of the BOSS 3655 LS laser machine. Upon completion of this orientation the student will understand the safety protocols for machine use, which materials are appropriate to engrave or cut, and specific pre- and post-job operations.

    Prerequisites:

    Familiarity with Lightburn laser software. This is the software we have selected to run the laser.
    Watch these videos to familiarize yourself with Lightburn before using the Boss for your projects. This class does NOT cover in-depth discussion of Lightburn.

  • Zing Laser Certification

    Class Description & Agenda:

    In this class we will cover everything you need to know to get started using the Zing Laser Cutter/Etcher!

    What will you learn?

    *We will go over how to create a file so it will be read by the Zing.
    *What settings to choose when sending a file to the Zing.
    *How to align the material in the Zing to get a proper cut.

    You don't need to bring any special materials for the class, but if you have a particular project in mind you may want to bring any files you have for that and we may use your project as an example of how to create something using the laser cutter.

  • Intro to VCarve for CNC Router

    Class Description & Agenda:

    VCarve is great software for makers new to CNC. Also, Pikes Peak Makerspace members have access to VCarve - Makerspace Edition which allows you to design on your personal PC at home, then generate the g-code at the makerspace!

    Knowing how to make G Code is a prerequisite for the CNC Router class. This class will fill that prerequisite.

    Agenda:

    Demonstrate process to design a tool, tool organizer, or another custom piece for use at Pikes Peak Makerspace. Includes use and explanation of various VCarve Design Tools, and creation of Toolpaths to create Gcode.
    Open discussion and VCarve Cohort. Problem solving, tips and tricks, and "why won't it do what I want it to??"
