    This is a certification workshop required of members before you can use the powder coating area.

    *How to use the sandblaster
    *how to properly prep parts for powder coating

    *Different coating techniques biginner to advanced

    • covering the different kinds of powder and their uses
      *Using the ovens and how to properly bake parts

  • Intro to Fusion 360 manufacturing ( making CNC Gcode)

    Class Description & Agenda:

    Prerequisite (REQUIRED): Fusion 360 experience, knowing how to sketch well and create 3d models in Fusion 360.

    This training focuses on how to turn your 3d model or sketch into Gcode that the CNC can read using the manufacturing workspace. We will only cover how to make gcode for 3 Axis CNCs.

    We will cover...
    How to set up and orientate your models to be machined.
    How to make a setup for single and double-sided parts.
    How to set up and save tools.
    How to use 2D and 3D tool paths and when it's best to use which one.
    Useful plugins and techniques to make the process easier.
    How to simulate and post-process for successful machining.

    This class can be used as the prerequisite for the Basic CNC Router Operation class.

  • Boss Laser Orientation and Certification

    Class Description & Agenda:

    The BOSS Laser Orientation is designed to provide an overview of the BOSS 3655 LS laser machine. Upon completion of this orientation the student will understand the safety protocols for machine use, which materials are appropriate to engrave or cut, and specific pre- and post-job operations.

    Prerequisites:

    Familiarity with Lightburn laser software. This is the software we have selected to run the laser.
    Watch these videos to familiarize yourself with Lightburn before using the Boss for your projects. This class does NOT cover in-depth discussion of Lightburn.

  • Basic CNC Router Operation

    Class Description & Agenda:

    This is a certification workshop required of members before you can use the CNC Router on your own. [24/7 access] Since this is a "Level 3" machine, you will also need to demonstrate to an instructor that you can operate the router safely. A "check-out" session will be at a separate pre-arranged time, but there will be no additional costs.

    We will cover some of the abilities of the machine, terminology, safety, PPM policies, and the complete setup and execution of a job.

    Prerequisite (REQUIRED):

    Knowledge of CNC, G code generation, or VCarve. Check out our virtual VCarve under our main page.

    This training focuses on the operation of the router - not the creation of models. We will discuss briefly software and process for the creation of models and tool paths. But if you have projects in mind, we can talk through some of the specifics that might be involved.

    (RSVP limit is 3. If you have a guest observer (not to be certified) you wish to bring, please check with the instructor first as physical space is limited inside the router room.)

    Cost:

    Want or need high-resolution 3D parts?
    SLA 3D printing creates high-resolution parts down to 10 microns of
    detail and is great for parts you are going to cast!

    *How to set up and clean the printers and change the resin.
    *How to use slicer software and set settings for each kind of resin.
    *How to post-process your parts.

  • Introduction to 3D Printing

    Class Description & Agenda:

    Welcome to the beginner 3D printing class at PPM! After taking this class you will know how to operate our 2 most used 3D printers, the Prusa and Taz FDM printers (we'll go over what FDM means and all the basics of 3D printing).

    The goal is you will be able to hold your ideas in your hand!

    This is a paid class. This helps us offset the cost of printing materials for the future. Once you go through the class you will have 24x7 access to the printers. We do always accept filament donations!

    *Overview of 3D printing by talking about printers, slicers (software), materials and how to 3D print successfully at PPM.

  • Woodshop Orientation - Members Only!

    This class is meant for Pikes Peak Makerspace members ONLY who want to get started using our wood shop. We will go over basic wood shop safety and introduce most equipment including Tablesaw, Miter Saw, Planer, Router Table, Drill Press, Belt/Disk Sander, and a few others!

    This orientation is mainly focused on Safety and use of the space. This is not a skills or technique class! Keep an eye out for advance woodworking classes coming soon.

    Welcome to Large Format Printing where you can bring your ideas to life in vibrant color! Large Format Printers (LFPs) are great for improving the workflow of your projects by allowing you to print full size blueprints, sewing patterns, decals, and, of course, posters and banners.

    In this class we will cover the proper use and maintenance of our HP DesignJet 5500ps printer. This includes:

    *Going over the parts of printer
    *Loading and unloading media
    *Trimming media
    *Troubleshooting printheads
    *How to access for printing

  • Zing Laser Certification

    Class Description & Agenda:

    In this class we will cover everything you need to know to get started using the Zing Laser Cutter/Etcher!

    What will you learn?

    *We will go over how to create a file so it will be read by the Zing.
    *What settings to choose when sending a file to the Zing.
    *How to align the material in the Zing to get a proper cut.

    You don't need to bring any special materials for the class, but if you have a particular project in mind you may want to bring any files you have for that and we may use your project as an example of how to create something using the laser cutter.
