What we’re about

Pilates Reformer for Older Adults + Tea at ICP
Thursdays, 2:00 pm

Pilates Reformer for Older Adults + Tea at ICP was inspired by an article in The Atlantic by Mikala Jamison: “A Ridiculous, Perfect Way to Make Friends, Group fitness classes aren’t just about exercise.” Yes, classes can also be a way to expand your social circle – so we hope you’ll join us on a regular basis.

The reformer class for older adults is hosted by Pilates on Ludlow at 77 Ludlow Street. After class the studio’s resident older adult invites you to tea at the International Center of Photography café at 84 Ludlow.

Pilates is a low-impact, whole-body workout focused on deep core strengthening to improve alignment and overall health. Especially beneficial for aging joints, regular practice can mitigate aches and pains and give you more energy and confidence as you move about in daily life. In classes of six, certified Pilates apparatus instructors guide you through controlled movement and muscle activations that can make it more comfortable to walk, sit, bend, prevent injury, and much more. They will help you unlock the benefits of this potentially life-changing modality.
