We’re excited to invite you to the Pint of Science Festival Thailand 2025, taking place over two engaging evenings:

📅 Monday 19 May & Monday 26 May 2025 🕔 Registration opens at 5:30 PM | Talks begin promptly at 6:00 PM 📍 Amphitheatre, C-ASEAN Samyan Co-op (2nd Floor, Samyan Mitrtown)

Join us for fun, informal nights where brilliant scientists bring their cutting-edge ideas and stories out of the lab or field and into the limelight. This year’s festival features 7 thought-provoking speakers across two themes:

🔬 Monday 19 May – Inside Out: Our Bodies, Our Environment, Our Science

  1. Associate Professor Dr. Solaphat Hemrungrojn, M.D., Ph.D., is a neuropsychiatrist at Chulalongkorn University and Director of the Cognitive Fitness Center at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospita, Title of the talk “AI Innovation for Mental Health”
  2. Dr. Suppakarn Jandang, an Assistant Professor at the Center for Ocean Plastics Studies (COPS), Kyushu University, based at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Title of the talk “The Hidden Life of Ocean Microplastics”
  3. Dr Chamarika Jayanetti Weerasekera, a medical doctor, and a lecturer attached to the Department of Parasitology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka, Title of the talk “The self cloning worm; researching an overlooked parasite in the middle of a crisis”
  4. Okka Phyo Maung, a tech entrepreneur, co-founder of RecyGlo/Sana Terra, Title of the talk “Finding your Niche and Scaling environmental compliance products”

🤖 Monday 26 May – Trust in Science: Data, Ethics, and Dialogue

  1. Professor Mai Chun Wai, a cancer and stem cell researcher at Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI), IMU University in Malaysia, Title of the talk “IT (Integrity and Transparency) is a better science for all!”
  2. Napat Khirikeokkong, a Senior Social Science Researcher and Senior Engagement Facilitator with the Bioethics and Engagement Department, Mahidol Oxford Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Bangkok, Title of the talk “Sensitive information and data considerations when working with vulnerable population”
  3. Associate Professor Dr. Smith Boonchutima, a faculty member of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University, Title of the talk “Breaking the Silence: Conversations That Save Lives in HIV Prevention”
