Beneath the Snowpack: Forecasting Avalanches in the Presidential Range

The Data Science Initiative (https://www.amherst.edu/about/science_at_amherst/data-science-initiative) is organizing a super-exciting talk about forecasting catastrophic events in a highly-consequential environment, where a mis-prediction either way can have fatal consequences. Even collecting data in this environment is extremely hard.

On Tue, 10/21, at 4pm, in the Science Center of Amherst College (25 East Drive, Amherst, MA), room SCCE A131, Charlotte MacDonald, USFS Snow Ranger and Avalanche Forecaster at the Mt Washington Avalanche Center, will present "Beneath the Snowpack: Forecasting Avalanches in the Presidential Range”.
