Devil's Punchbowl 15km - relaxed hike

Details
## General Information
Join us for a relaxed 15k hike. Enjoy the spectacular views across the Surrey hills from the site of heathland formerly divided by the A3, now re-united by the Hindhead tunnel. After a view of the hills, and a stop for coffee and cake, we will descend in to the punchbowl and circle round the natural hollow, enjoying the extensive array of trees and looking for the Exmoor ponies who live there, before climbing back to civilisation.
HIGHLIGHTS
• The Robertson memorial, the gentleman who acquired and bequeathed the the property (land) to the National Trust - as a memorial to his 2 younger brothers who were both killed in the first world war.
• The Sailor's Stone - a stone erected to mark the spot where, tragically in 1786, a sailor was brutally murdered by 3 men whilst walking from London to Portsmouth.
• Gibbet Hill - The Celtic Cross marks the spot where the 3 murderers of the sailor were hanged for the crime. The 2nd highest point in Surrey at 272m.
