Cheap Eats - Big Jim's in the Run
Details
I do love a good $200 wine dinner, but my pants and my monthly spending summary are starting to mock my excessive indulgences. Accordingly, this series of events will be focused on more budget friendly foodie options. I'm searching out places where quality, creativity, and value go hand in hand. Think foodie finds at food truck prices, big portions that lend to lunch leftovers, BYOB faves, or kick ass happy hour specials that make fancy places a little less wallet busting. You can certainly eat, drink, and spend whatever you want, but the idea is to make it fun to seek out deals and spend a little less.
This series will have some places with no reservations, limited seating, etc. They may or may not serve alcohol or by BYOB. Some may have to wait for better weather. But let's give it a try and start with Big Jim's in the Run. This neighborhood gem was made famous by Diners, Drive ins, and Dives, but it's been famous forever among true Yinzers. It has a full menu, a bar, and seating. The portions are huge and the prices are cheap. Their hours suck though, so I've scheduled it earlier than normal.
