Leveraging OpenTelemetry for Enhanced Observability in AWS Lambda

Details

Join us for an insightful user group talk on the powerful combination of OpenTelemetry and AWS Lambda, where we will explore how to achieve enhanced observability and monitoring in serverless applications.

OpenTelemetry has emerged as a prominent open-source project that enables developers to instrument, collect, and export telemetry data across different programming languages and frameworks. AWS Lambda, on the other hand, provides an efficient and scalable platform for running serverless workloads in the cloud. When these two technologies are combined, they create a compelling solution for observability and performance monitoring in serverless environments.During this user group talk, we will delve into the key concepts of OpenTelemetry and AWS Lambda, demonstrating how they work together to provide comprehensive insights into your serverless applications. We will cover a range of topics, including:

  1. Introduction to OpenTelemetry: Gain a fundamental understanding of OpenTelemetry, its components, and its role in capturing telemetry data such as metrics, traces, and logs.
  2. AWS Lambda Overview: Explore the core features and benefits of AWS Lambda, and understand how it simplifies the deployment and management of serverless functions.
  3. Integrating OpenTelemetry with AWS Lambda: Learn how to seamlessly integrate OpenTelemetry into your AWS Lambda functions, allowing you to collect fine-grained telemetry data for analysis and troubleshooting.
  4. Observability in Serverless Environments: Discover how OpenTelemetry and AWS Lambda enable comprehensive observability, empowering you to monitor the performance, latency, and behavior of your serverless applications.
  5. Practical Examples and Best Practices: Explore real-world examples and best practices for instrumenting your AWS Lambda functions with OpenTelemetry, and understand how to extract actionable insights from the telemetry data.

Whether you are a developer, architect, or operations professional working with AWS Lambda or interested in observability in serverless architectures, this user group talk will equip you with valuable knowledge and practical techniques to enhance the monitoring and observability of your serverless applications.

Join us for an engaging session filled with insightful discussions, live demonstrations, and Q&A sessions, as we explore the powerful synergy between OpenTelemetry and AWS Lambda in achieving observability excellence in the serverless world.
