ShuBrew: Support an upcoming brewpub

You all know that I like beer; that much is a given. What you might not realize, is that my other motivation in this group is to support all the great restaurants and bars in the area who go out of their way to serve good beer. If you've been with the group for a while, you have seen that in the wide range of restaurants we visit.

The rise of crowd-funding. Now, with the recent explosion of crowd-funding opportunities, we have yet another tool for supporting the restaurants we love: direct support. We can each chip in a small donation to help a new place raise the funds it needs for a strong start. With a group our size, a few dollars each can have a big impact. That's exactly what we're trying to do by highlighting ShuBrew.

Support an upcoming brewpub. For the past few weeks, Brooke and I have been doing our best to spread the word about Zach and Erika Shumaker in their quest to open a great new brew pub in the northern suburbs (Seven Fields). You all have a great opportunity to help the group make a difference by making a small pledge on the ShuBrew Kickstarter page. Every pledge level from $1 all the way up to $5000 comes along with a reward or perk of some sort -- from a sticker to a chance to develop your own beer for their draft list. There's even a $2 option that enters you in a drawing for any reward you want.

So why not stop by and join Brooke and I in giving ShuBrew your support!

ShuBrew: if the shu fits, Drink it.

If you want a few more details, Bob Batz did a great little write-up of the effort in the Post-Gazette. Go check it out, too.

Beer: North of the city, two new brands are brewing

...and, of course, we'll be scheduling a meetup up there as soon as they're up and running!
