About us
The Pittsburgh Garden Club will be anyone in the Pittsburgh area who has an interest in gardening, whether you are a master gardener or just have a few plants or even just "plans" for your yard or balcony.
We will meet at different venues to discuss garden setup, soil science, native plants, composting, growing food, planning for erosion and critter control, and share stories about how our plants are doing with all the rain we've been getting.
We will meet mostly at parks, each other's gardens, garden centers, etc. Our symbol of membershiip in garden club will be a garden tool: either a pitchfork, hoe, japanese gardening tool, or garden claw. Bring your tool to each meeting so we can help each other!
On occasion we may want to meet up with elected officials to talk about what they are doing to provide Pittsburgh with clean air, water, soil and food.
Come join! Bring your tool, some beverages, some tunes, let's have fun with this making garden friends and building a movement!
I will host our first meeting once our last frost date has passed, where we will learn how to plant and grow potatoes! Please send topical suggestions to me and I'll work them in throughout the growing season.
