"Frankenstein's Monster; or The Reanimated Detritus"

Architectural historian and ELVHS board member Justin Greenawalt shows how restoring the house next door using materials salvaged from historic buildings, including a window from the recently demolished Shady Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church, increases pride of ownership in the entire neighborhood.

The Marilyn Evert Lecture Series, a free event, is named for its late founder, anthropologist and art historian Marilyn Evert. The East Liberty Valley Historical Society (ELVHS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising public awareness of and encouraging scholarship about the history of the neighborhoods of the East Liberty Valley, including East Liberty, Garfield, Stanton Heights, Shadyside, Lincoln-Lemington, Larimer, Highland Park, Morningside, Friendship, Homewood-Brushton, Belmar and Point Breeze. Please consider supporting the activities of the Society with a tax deductible donation.
