Using census and deed information, newspaper articles, sociological studies, photographs, videos and personal interviews, retired physician Robbie Ali and friend David Cummings, interpreter for the deaf, paint a picture of the short, not-quite-two-block street they grew up on, from the Mellon Brothers' 1891 construction of the row houses next to the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks through to the present day.

The talk is sponsored by the East Liberty Valley Historical Society -- a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising public awareness of and encouraging scholarship about the history of the neighborhoods of the East Liberty Valley, including East Liberty, Garfield, Stanton Heights, Shadyside, Lincoln-Lemington, Larimer, Highland Park, Morningside, Friendship, Homewood-Brushton, Belmar and Point Breeze.
The talk is free and no registration is required (just show up!). But please consider supporting the activities of the Historical Society with a tax deductible donation!
(And save the date for the historical society's next talk on Wednesday, December 3 at 7 pm!)
