Book Discussion: A World Appears: A Journey Into Consciousness by Michael Pollan
CLP-East Liberty, 130 S. Whitfield St., Pittsburgh, PA, USWhat is it like to be a plant? Can AI ever have an inner life? And what does any of this have to do with sitting on a cushion?
In his new book, A World Appears: A Journey into Consciousness, Michael Pollan explores consciousness through the lenses of plants, artificial intelligence, and the nature of mind itself. His journey, perhaps unsurprisingly, ends with him at a meditation center.
We'll get together to talk about what we learned and how it connects to our own exploration of consciousness. Whether or not you've read the book, we'll open with a brief summary so everyone can join the conversation.
We'll be in Meeting Room 2, upstairs at the Carnegie Library in East Liberty.
