Join us for an Open Mic & online hangout!! THERE IS SO MUCH WE DO NOT KNOW. We DO know how to have a show, we know racism is alive and well, we know the fight is not over, and we know that holding this space for our creative community has been helpful for some. So, we're doing our best trying to mitigate risk as we go.
Social distancing is an act of solidarity with and for at-risk populations. Please follow public health recommendations as much as you are able.

We've been chatting, reading, show-and-tell-ing, and just making space for each other to check in during this weird time!! Just about anything goes!

Signups open @ 7:45
(First Come-First Served - 8 Slam Spots - 6 Open Mic Spots)
Show @ 8:15

DISCLAIMER: The Steel City Slam and the Pittsburgh Poetry Collective are committed to maintaining free speech within our venues by the construction and preservation of a Brave Space. We do this by allowing expression for everyone present in the space. This means you may hear: mature language, mature themes, difficult and/or triggering content on our microphone. In our Brave Spaces, free speech ends when other people are silenced. If by words or behaviour someone advocates violence, threatens, harasses, or in some other way silences someone else, that is not protected in this space. We discourage the use of gendered and binary language and enforce positive mandatory consent. We have a conflict resolution procedure in place. All of these policies are outlined on our website. For additional details, visit the documents page at https://pghpoetry.org/get-up-on-stage-and-read-poetry/

Pittsburgh Poetry Collective asks that any venue our events are held at be respected. Be aware that Pittsburgh Poetry Collective may have events where alcohol is available. We ask that you drink responsibility and seek alternative forms of transportation if you are unfit to drive.
