We invite you to join us for an in-person, interactive experience: Finding the Racial Wealth Gap,
created by Bread of the World.

The racial wealth gap is a critical issue where a typical Black family has only $0.15 in wealth for every $1.00 a typical White family has. Wealth is defined as the total value of assets minus debts.

This profound economic disparity is the direct result of systemic racism, rooted in historical and ongoing discriminatory policies and practices—including slavery, Jim Crow laws, redlining, and discrimination in housing, banking, credit, inheritance, and employment. These actions have severely limited the ability of Black Americans and other marginalized groups to accumulate wealth, and the gap continues to worsen.

Participating in this exercise offers a powerful, felt sense of how these racist policies impact our lives, fostering enhanced understanding, self-awareness, and growth concerning systemic racism.

If you would like to increase your awareness, knowledge and understanding of the Racial Wealth Gap, please join the Pittsburgh Pathworkers Confronting Racism for this free event (donations welcome).
