We have online events and in-person events which include photo walks in the Pittsburgh area or driving trips to interesting venues. We also meet monthly for a social event and to talk photography. Anyone can suggest and/or lead an event. We love participation!
Join us if you have a passion for taking photographs of any kind with anything.
In the past, dues for this group have been $5/year, with new members receiving a 30-day free trial. But at this time, dues are not being collected. This may change in the future.
Doors Open Pittsburgh is a tour of the buildings of Pittsburgh. At each building, there is typically someone there that will provide the history and interesting facts about the building. In some cases, access will be provided to areas that are not typically open to the general public. If you like architecture and city history, I'm sure you will find this to be a fun event. There are various levels of tickets, with a general admission ticket being $15.00.
I went to this event 5 years ago, and I think the highlight was getting access to the roof of the convention center. Not sure if that is open every year for this event or not, or if access is allowed during other events. I've been wanting to attend this event again but it just has not worked out in past years.
There may not be a meeting place for this event, as it is not likely that everyone will want to go to the same buildings. There are 34 buildings included in this tour, so most people will not get to see all of them. Also note that some buildings require proof of vaccination prior to entry. And make sure you have a mask, as one may be required in some places regardless of vaccination status. The Facebook event page is here:
