7:05 - 7:30 Chapter 1 of Becoming a UX Designer
Gisela Opperman (UX/UI Designer at Vodacom)
Isabel Cronje (Product Designer at Standard Bank)
Top tip: It’s a really good idea to hit the pause button and set aside some time to ponder and reflect – to just sit still and think back on how you got to where you are today. It puts a lot of things into perspective, and it gives you the chance to give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back for all you’ve accomplished and for making it this far.
Well, this is what we realised as we started prepping for this talk, which is about our first two years as UX designers. As far as sage advice goes, that’s about as ‘wisdomous’ as we’ll get. We’re going to tell you the story of how we became UX designers, recounting the delightful and not-so-delightful parts of starting your first job, joining your first team, learning the lingo, explaining to others what UX is and isn’t, and learning to be wrong… a lot.
