Czym się zajmujemy

The Wroclaw Open Source Meetup is a group for people who want to keep up with (and contribute to!) the most innovative and disruptive open source initiatives and projects the world of high tech has to offer.

Hence, meetups will address a variety of topics spanning from open source software and open research through open hardware, open FPGA and open silicon - and present the open source movement that is happening in increasingly important though less obvious areas such as AI and IoT.

Join us to discuss established open source projects as well as new developments and trends in open technologies that may be considered in many ways critical to the future: computer architectures, algorithmics and artificial intelligence, new programming paradigms and methods, continuous integration and test automation, or electronics design and hardware development.

You will learn about latest developments in some of the world’s most important and market-driving projects such as Zephyr, Linux, Android and ROS. You might want to become a builder of early implementations of the open RISC‑V or MIPS ISAs, or be working with AI, video processing and machine learning using tools such as Caffe, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.

Expect at least two technical presentations per meetup, followed by socializing and evening networking with drinks and refreshments.

Wroclaw Open Source Meetups are organized at the initiative and sponsorship of Antmicro.

Wroclaw Open Source Meetup #2

Get ready for Wroclaw Open Source Meetup #2! 23rd February 2019 - this time, we're booking the wonderful Barbara venue for a Saturday evening so that everyone can enjoy a longer night out with the Wroclaw open source community. Two talks, a Q&A session with Zephyr-capable devkit giveaways and the networking afterparty, naturally. Agenda: Singularity - open source file-based containerization Singularity is an open source container technology designed to encapsulate reproducible application stacks into a single file. Created at Berkeley Lab / Sylabs with HPC use cases in mind, Singularity is quickly gaining momentum as in other areas, providing secure and reproducible containers e.g. for ML training or industrial vision. The presentation will cover the basic features and benefits of Singularity, some examples of practical use cases, a showcase of docker interoperability, and insights into the future. Zephyr - small, scalable open source RTOS for IoT embedded devices The Zephyr Project is a scalable real-time operating system (RTOS) supporting multiple hardware architectures, optimized for resource constrained devices, and built with safety and security in mind. This presentation will cover the practical aspects of using an open source RTOS in real-life commercial projects varying from IoT-class gadgets to safety-critical application devices. Learn about the opportunities - and challenges - arising from the openness of the system and follow our guide on how to start using and developing with Zephyr. Don’t miss this talk for one more reason: this time we will be giving away development boards capable of running Zephyr to our most active participants! Registration: Registration will be at the entry based on the meetup attendee list. You will be asked to provide your name, surname and affiliation. You have to be an adult to attend. Upon entering the venue, you agree that you might be photographed/filmed. Schedule: 18:00-18:30 - Registration 18:30-19:30 - Talks 19:30-late - Afterparty Afterparty: After the presentations, stay with us for socializing and more discussions at the evening afterparty sponsored by Antmicro with a delicious cold and hot dinner menu, and a selection of regional craft beer and drinks! Venue: Barbara, ul. Świdnicka 8B,[masked] Wrocław
