Wroclaw Open Source Meetup #17

The Wroclaw Open Source Meetup series returns after the summer break with its 17th edition!

Join us on October 23rd at 18:00 to enjoy an evening packed with open source, high tech goodness and the company of like minded open source enthusiasts.
As always, we're scheduling two talks, a Q&A session and a networking afterparty till late.

Agenda:

1. The waiting game. Audio and Video Latency Measurement; Wojciech Gryncewicz, Antmicro

Processing of audio and video signal inevitably involves latency, which is a natural consequence of the multi step acquisition, transmission and transformation process. In real-time applications, minimizing latency is a critical issue that must be addressed to ensure proper system operation, good user experience, and, in some cases, even safety.
The presentation covers key principles of audio and video latency management, as well as selected measurement and mitigation methods.
Focusing on challenges of modern augmented reality (AR) systems, it will describe in detail open-hardware-based solutions for measurement of audio, photon-to-photon (PTP) and motion-to-photon (MTP) latencies. It will demonstrate how visual latency can be compensated, using human visual system for comparison.

2. Working towards the perfect keyboard one open source project at a time; Jakub Jatczak, Antmicro

Current fast-paced advancements in the industry accustomed us to a constant evolution of the tools at our hands. However, in this landscape of ever-changing technology, there are some things that remain constant. Without doubt, some of these constants have been perfected to the point where any change would be counterproductive, but the keyboard is not one of them.
During this presentation, we will take a close look at the standard keyboard and its shortcomings. We will then go through some of the most popular open source projects and their approach to solving these problems.

Attending the event involves a registration at the entry based on the meetup attendee list. You will be asked to provide your name, surname and affiliation. You have to be an adult to attend. Upon entering the venue, you agree that you might be photographed/filmed.
