About us

Plant Powered Metro New York is catalyzing the local movement for vibrant health through whole-food, plant based (WFPB) nutrition. We empower and support people who have chosen this diet and lifestyle, raise awareness  locally about the tremendous health benefits, and seek to bring about communal change.

Everyone is welcome to participate in our network at any place along the journey to health. Whether you are coming to this way of life via The China Study or Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Forks Over Knives or Dr. Greger, Engine2 or Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, you will find a community of like-minded friends who are learning from each other and eager to bring the benefits of WFPB nutrition to the wider community.

Our meetings are held online and at various locations throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey.

The gut doesn't work alone — digestion is impacted by how we feel. Marble Collegiate Church and Plant Powered Metro New York welcome Dr. Matthew Lederman, a pioneering physician in "connection medicine" and bestselling author of The Forks Over Knives Plan. Dr. Lederman will explore how our nervous system and emotional attunement influence how we move food through the gut, absorb nutrients, and achieve balance in the microbiome to promote healing from the inside out. Bring your questions and get ready for a new perspective on health and well-being!

Matthew Lederman, MD, is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and thought leader in whole-person health. Renowned for his integration of plant-based nutrition, Nonviolent Communication, trauma-informed care, and Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Lederman’s work emphasizes the profound link between emotional regulation, safety physiology, and physical healing.

Join Plant Powered Metro New York for a home-hosted community screening of Love Over Money.

The film shares the powerful true story of John Robbins, heir to the Baskin-Robbins fortune, who walked away from a billion-dollar inheritance to live in alignment with his values — sparking a global conversation about food, health, and purpose.

After the film, we’ll open the floor for a group discussion to share reflections and takeaways.

Guests are invited to bring a light snack to share, made with whole plant foods — whole grains, beans, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Please, no animal-based foods, vegan processed foods, white flours, or added oils, and we ask you to minimize added sweeteners and salt.
