Join Plant Powered Metro New York for our 4th annual Health Freedom Walk, a restaurant “crawl” hosted in multiple neighborhoods around the region, offering progressive plant-powered meals that pay tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s enduring legacy of justice. Come celebrate freedom, fun, and food as we take back our health and support local eateries.
We honor Rev. Dr. King’s legacy, recognizing that nutrition presents a transformative opportunity for health, healing, and hope in African American communities and for all of our marginalized neighbors.
Each Health Freedom Walk will be unique to each neighborhood, which may include key landmarks recognizing Dr. King or the civil rights movement, eateries serving diverse cuisines, and walk marshals to provide inspiration and historical perspective. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to honor Dr. King’s birthday, look no further and get ready to eat well, gather in community, and walk for health freedom.
Join our walk to these hotspots in Jamaica where local chefs have, in partnership with PPMNY, curated these delicious dishes:
• B&B Grill, 168-19 Baisley Blvd: Falafel & Rice
• The Door Restaurant, 163-07 Baisley Blvd: Ital Stew
• We Juicing, 165-46 Baisley Blvd: Smoothie
The walk begins at Gwen Ifill Park, 128-12 174th Pl, Jamaica, NY 11434.
Walk Marshal & Speaker: Nantasha Williams, PhD, New York City Council
A $5 donation to PPMNY is required to hold your spot. Please expect to pay $7 – $10 per dish per restaurant. Each dish will build on one another to create a meal.
Hosted by Rev. Sheree Jones from Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and James Spellos, PPMNY Technology and Events Specialist
