Volunteer with potbelly pigs at Pebble Ranch Rescue in Lakeside (+1s welcome!)
Details
Let's go to Pebble Ranch Rescue for a group volunteer outing! Feel free to invite significant others and friends (please include them in your RSVP) and join us for feeding, sweeping up after, playing with and caring for the adorable (115!) potbelly pig residents of PRR.
Be prepared to be met with sweet muddy snouts, wagging curly-cue tails & belly rub requests.
Erin and Andre, the PRR founders, are lovely people. They need help in March and April more than ever before due to some medical issues they are addressing. If you would like to volunteer there instead of or in addition to this volunteer outing, please reach out to them on their website and let them know. You can volunteer for a single shift. It does not need to be an ongoing commitment.
Back to our group's volunteer outing: Tabitha, the PRR volunteer coordinator, will give us a tour and share what they need help with. It's usually sweeping up after the piggies, feeding and socializing/playing with them. It's been light and easy work in the past, with a lot of fun time with the piggies.
* Please arrive on time so they can open the gate for all of us at the same time and give us instructions and a tour together. This makes it much easier for them, and it gives us more time to socialize with the piggies after feeding them their dinner. *
Please RSVP here (on Meetup) and sign the volunteer application and waiver on PRR's website. It only takes a few minutes to do so. Also, please let them know you are coming with me on the posted date of our volunteer outing. This is helpful information for them. The date we are volunteering is not posted on their website. It is only for our group.
* I've included information from the PRR website below. They have asked us not to share the sanctuary's address with anyone outside of our volunteer group for safety reasons.
The sanctuary address is
12725 Muth Valley Road
Lakeside, CA 92040
Please be sure to sign their volunteer waiver online and submit it before our volunteer outing. In addition to their website's helpful information below, I suggest wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes, bringing water bottles, snacks, a sun hat and sunscreen.
* Please note that your GPS and cell service might stop working when you are close to PRR, so it is helpful to look at directions in their entirety before driving over in case this happens.
Please reach out if you have any questions. My mobile number is (619) 822-5592
Thanks for joining us!

Pebble Ranch Rescue's Mission
***
Pebble Ranch Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, neglected, and abused pot-bellied pigs. Our animals are treated with respect as individuals. They receive the care they need and the kindness they deserve. The animals at Pebble Ranch Rescue are ambassadors and help to educate people about the impact of animal agriculture on our environment. In addition to animal rescue, our mission is to help people transition to a vegan lifestyle to reduce suffering for all. We welcome visitors to come and meet our animals, learn their stories, and understand what amazing creatures they are.
PRR's Story
We named Pebble Ranch after our first pot-bellied pig Pebbles who started it all. He desperately need a home so we took him in. It was an unplanned adoption and one of the best things that ever happened to us. He is such a sweet boy and we became to love him. After we moved to our new location (Pebble Ranch) we dedicated decided that this is a perfect place to provide a safe home for abused, neglected, abandoned, or unwanted animals, especially pot-bellied pigs and named the property after Pebbles.
Volunteer information
Pebble Ranch Rescue is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes unwanted, neglected, and abused pot-bellied pigs. Our mission is to provide these animals with the care they need and the kindness they deserve. As a volunteer, you can help us make a difference in the lives of these animals by assisting with feeding, cleaning, and socializing. Every little bit helps, and we appreciate any time you can give. What Should I Wear?
Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes that can get dirty. It’s dusty when dry, and muddy when wet.
What will I do?
Clean pens, prepare & distribute meals, clean/refill water containers, clean food bowls, socialize the pigs by encouraging positive social people/pig interactions, usually using treats. These are just some of the things that we do on a daily basis.
Can I bring drinks or food?
Yes. We encourage you to bring reusable water bottles and plant-based food. However, you cannot take food inside any of the animal pens.
Can I bring treats for the animals?
We always welcome food donations, but you cannot feed them directly to the animals unless approved.
Thanks!
