Details

Welcome to our June edition! This time we will meet up at SQUER for talks and discussions - thanks for having us!

Agenda:

  • Doors open 5:30 p.m.
  • Talk 1: 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Speaker: Andrii Soldatenko
  • Title: The Art of Debugging Inside K8s Environments
  • Abstract: People say: “You build it! and you own it!” but in the modern IT world, it is easy to write yamls and apply them to k8s, right? But it does not always work as expected, doesn’t it?
You can find tons of books and tutorials on how to do it correctly. But the reality is that there are no manuals on how to write apps that are easier to debug and troubleshoot in k8s. How can the design and construction of k8s resources be improved to avoid bugs?
In this talk, I’ll show how to deal with the most common errors while deploying to k8s, different strategies and methods for troubleshooting and how to debug your apps inside the cluster.
I’ll show the most valuable tools you can use to speed up your debugging skills in RBACs, NetworkPolices and Nodes, volumes, and pods. Also, we discuss high-level strategies and methods for addressing diverse k8s failures and specific techniques to apply when writing, using, and running your projects inside k8s to make programs more accessible to debug.
  • Break: 6:30 to 6:45 p.m.
  • Talk 2: 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.
  • Speaker: Ivo Stankov
  • Title: Beyond Containers: Real-World Internal Developer Platforms for GenAI & API Enablement at OMV
  • Abstract: Platform engineering is often equated with containers, Kubernetes, and tools like Backstage. But what happens when the needs of a large enterprise extend far beyond these technologies? In this talk, I will share OMV’s practical journey in building and scaling internal platforms that empower both AI and API development, without relying on the usual container-centric approaches.
Focusing on real-world examples and hands-on experience, I will demonstrate how OMV’s AI Hub and API Management platforms have been designed and built as self-service ecosystems, enabling rapid innovation while upholding robust governance and security. You’ll discover how these platforms offer productive web portals for end users, reusable and governed modules for engineers, and comprehensive documentation for all stakeholders. I will also discuss the benefits of stable reference architectures, the value of self-service, and the practical challenges we have encountered along the way.
  • Networking: start 7:15 p.m.
