"The heart of improvisation is transformation.” -Viola Spolin
We will experiment with activities that shift our focus from creating fear to creating fun thus opening us up to reinventing ourselves and our lives. The activities are a mix of traditional improv games and scenes and activities that engage our body's intelligence for full expression.
Do you want to:
P LAY through your issues instead of working hard on them?
L EARN to use improv as a way to practice creating what you really want?
A CT out your dreams and conjure fun?!
Y ES, AND yourself and discover how self-loving can be a playful, embodied practice in creative expression?
If yes, then join us in improv games and mind/body centering activities as we play and uncover old unconscious patterns and stories. Then we'll apply the simple "Yes, And" rule of improv: We'll say YES to them, and dive in adding humour and fun. Then we'll add the AND to create a new story of our choosing.
Come play with us and begin co-creating your new story!
This class involves moving around a fair bit, but it's not strenuous.
About Me: I'm a certified Hendricks Big Leap Coach and a graduate of the two year immersive Leadership and Transformation program at the Hendricks Institute (www.hendricks.com). Also, I've been a student of comedy theater improv for over two years and am currently studying at Unexpected Productions in Seattle ( http://www.unexpectedproductions.org ). Along the way, I discovered how much easier it is to use my whole self to transform my experience through play, rather than struggling to "figure things out" with just my brain.
Experience presence, power and pleasure through play and practice.
We'll learn skills that will help us be present and connect with each other while playing out hilarious games and scenes. Maybe you've never taken an improv class and are curious to try it out, or maybe you love improv and want to jam a bit with new folks. Either way this class is for you! Drop in and play!
This class is free, but I would gladly accept donations to help pay for the space. Suggested $10.
Minimum 4 RSVPs required by the Friday before to run this event.
If people seem excited for this and want to make it a regular thing, I'm all for it!
